Whats Wrong with hip hop?

Things like this really get to people.

I'm starting to think people are losing the sense of what Hip Hop is. There is no "Real" hip hop. There is no "Wack" hip hop outside of your own opinion. I mean yes, artists make crappy music. However, Its both the fans fault for supporting the artist and the artists fault for making crappy music. People don't seem to get that. Fans need to start having some standards, for real.

Hell, i don't like wayne at all. I dislike his music just as much as i dislike Boosie, Shawty Lo or whatever his name is ect. But Lil wayne IS hip hop. Shawty Lo IS hip hop. Lil Boosie IS hip hop.

We got how many rappers saying Soulja Boy is garbage? I mean, whats going on? First off, Hip Hop is a means to express yourself, and people are suppost to be free to do so. Second, if he's garbage, thats all the more reason for you to put out more piff. Not to be dissing rappers that are coming up, no matter how bad.

Not liking someone's music is not a means to say they ain't hip hop. It took a whole BET Segment (ya'll know i don't even touch BET) and legend KRS One to bridge the gap. Although Soulja gave some stupid answers, it was a good touch to hip hop, people wan't to hear that. Yea, i dislike almost everything BET has to offer, but that was a good look for hip hop man. That was a good look.

Now this may seem like just a hip-hop and R&B site... but it's more than that. It's a reflection of self and anyone that knows me will tell you... I don't do just ONE thing.

My "I'm really good at expert, so I'm going to not look while playing this and still get Gold Stars" song.
And one of the most VICIOUS breakup songs in the history of music.
The whole song is like Eminem's Kim... just 10 times harder!



Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box

First song that did 100% on Expert on in the entire series (Bitch I do this (c) Shawty Lo). Also just a poetic and sonic masterpiece by a truly legendary group.
They are easily rock's version of The Notorious B.I.G.



My all-time favorite (non-bouns section) song in the whole series.

It's just a beauty. Innovative as well. I've never heard any song like this and probably never will again.

Anything You Can Do

I never was too much of a Beyonce fan.
She has talent. She has looks. She has style.

But, that wasn't too special to me.

However, whatever Beyonce still lacks as an artist...



... her sister is already taking and running away with.

The song is already just too fresh to handle. Her voice is right. The lyrics are cool. And the soundscape, at first glance, seems more Motown than anything.. but the quality of her voice, alone, seems to make this more progressive than any R&B track that I've been hearing on the radio (aside from Neyo-Closer and Chris Brown-Forever).

The video to me is a mindgasm of style and fashion with the exception of that orange contraption she rocks as her second outfit.

The first scene... just a little skeet taste for you. Vibrant cobalt-blue dress against a solid white backdrop. Attention-grabbing. And the close ups? MUCH APPRECIATED!

Second scene... could have saved it... but whatever. She is still hot (even it is just the neck up and the waist down in this shot lol)

Third scene... bangin' outfit again. Brown, touch of white = oh so nice. And the outside the box idea of singing while laying on a can of your own soup?
Well I'm not a soup person. I'm damn near the Soup Nazi.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!

But in this case... I'm sorry but this is some well advertised product!

Fourth scene... I don't know what those are (due to resolution of course)... boots or socks or what, however that blast of color does wonders to what would be, in most cases (especially her big sister's), just an all black ensemble.
HOT!

Fifth scene... screw the outfit. Right when she says "baby, I know" the decision to dispense clones of herself by just pointing in that direction... with that timing? GREAT!

Another thing I notice is that she must really love either yellow on blue.. the color blue... or just blue shoes in general.

Anyways, the running on a vinyl idea? Great!

Then the last two scenes hit... indescribable. The outfits are fantastic. The effects make the song climax for me (innuendo intended).

It's just... an amazing video. FREAKISH!

All Up On My Jock

Like I Outta - T-Pain

Another dude that gets a really bad rap... lol... T-Pain.

Mr. Auto-Tune since 2003.

T-Pain usually is that guy... on the hook... singing... making it a smash hit now-a-days, but like I said in the piece I did on Rick Ross's new "freestyle" even he is sick of everybody and they mama... mama's mama... even baby mama's mama... using the auto-tune effect.

Now you might say to yourself, this song isn't a lyrical goldmine.
I believe that if Shel Silverstein could influence me to write poetry with just 4 line poems about non-sense, this dude can shine.

In this new little ditty, he basically vents about the new epidemic and has a little revenge of his own.

Personally, I can't say that I'll rock to this song years down the line. It isn't a classic. But that is obviously NOT was he is going for, so I take it for what it is... A RETARDELY, HILARIOUS TUNE!

The beat comes in.. and it... well sounds like it was inspired out of Barnum and Bailey... Not Cirque-de-Sole or anything but still a cool synth number.

And... notably, from the jump, he isn't using a vocoder.
It's his voice...

He isn't singing.
He's... rapping.

Now remember that first album he made... Rappa Ternt Sanga?

Well, he goes back to his roots for a minute with this one.

"Man, I've been gone for way too long till I come back and snap on niggas
Defication is a neccessity I had to crap on niggas."

That pretty much sets the tone right there. It ain't pretty, but then again, the delivery is pretty well executed here so I let the rapping slide and start to try and feel it.

He does about eight... kinda decent bars. Still with an entertaining flow, which is the point.

Then that hook comes in...

But don't act like you know me, I'm layin' low-key
Grab your microphone. Set your auto-tune

My... goodness. The words ain't really all that poetic, but being from the south, I understand that what he lacked in words... he made up for in emotion and energy.

Many "goons" down here aren't quite adept at articulation. Yet when they speak, you already know what it is - Young Jeezy.

The effects that he put on his voice were really put together well. The scratches, that "talking through a phone" thing (yeah, I really forgot what that was called lol), the little auto-tune when says "auto-tune". Production genius.

The next verse... HILARITY!!!
Rappin like E-40.. PERFECTLY! WHICH IS RIDICA-CRAZY!
Rappin like Soulja Boi... a little off. Still funny. YOUUUUULE!!!
Rappin like Shawty Lo... I fell out of my chair.
Rappin like Jeezy... Lyric-wise on point... WHICH WAS STUPID FUNNY!
Rappin like Rick Ross... Ironic... I think the another word that's fitting... awkward lol

Then.. you hear the laugh. That's Wayne. Not really Wayne... but you know the deal.

"Ow... Pain is the best
And Wayne is up next with that T-Pain effect.
Ya'll stealin'. He cool.
Cause he doin' what he do."

And...

"Different ass nigga but the same dude
Don't worry bout a damn that T-Wayne do. [Editor's note: No Homo]

Yep. He just pretty much summed it up right there.

Now... after further examination, though, it seems as if he was cool with Ross stealing the "T-Pain effect". Then again, that's why it's not excellent, lyrically. He doesn't exactly get his point across.

Still, it's a cool song and a good quick listen.


I think you can say he is this generation's Biz Markie.

So the other day, I (one of Soulja Boi's more outspoken supporters, haters) was checking up on any new videos he has because even though I really don't bump his music (I have neither owned nor have ever downloaded a single song from him), he is just hilarious in real-time action. He really should just go to VH1 and make a new reality show. Just not in the Flava Flav kinda way.

Anyways, I come across a video titled "Soulja Boy SHOCKING News! OMG WTF LOL!" and I was like... mmkay this should be interesting.



Lo and behold, this guy just keeps finding ways to make a mockery out of the so-called "Real Hip-hop Heads" (Whom I despise)

Anyways, this guy claims that he is basically making like 15 cents every time you either a) view his videos (to hate on) or b) make a comment (to hate further)

Now... you may be wondering... or just still hatin' and saying, "Well... fifteen cents ain't shit!"

Consider this...

Just off of views alone.

According to his YouTube channel, SB has garnered 400,448,420 views...
add the $.15/view.

and...

It equals... ummm..

$60,067,263 USD! (No Calculator)

My goodness.

Now this is just the views... and you know all the comments he gets.

This is still just a claim however. I'll keep you posted on whether this is real or just fiction.

When I first heard about this on gaiaonline.com (big ups), I was like, "this must be a fake "DJ copy-and-paste of old verses on a beat" thing...

Then...

The intro appears...

Regardless of if it was still just a copy and paste deal, the beat was already getting me hyped. Then, Kayne comes in and IMMEDIATELY starts spazzing on the mic.

"Mr. West is in the buildin'
Swagger on a hundred thousand TRILLION!"

Fact. He said swagger. So it must be a new verse for the song itself!

Yes, he's using the auto-tune. But he gets a pass simply because he is still in his style. Raps for a minute and then just breaks out harmonizing as he's been doing recently.

Tryna get that coke number. One over Jordan"

The flow is just crazy-catchy!

The hook hits again and after a little research, I find out that the sample for the chours is from M.I.A.'s Paper Planes. O.O!
And I find that Kayne is the one that produced it (no wonder he's first)

After that, I'm just like well who's next?

The man also known as that guy that auto-tunes in that "The Bizness" song with the video that really makes it the only reason I care for because of that really, really fine bombshell singing the chorus who not be pictured here because this is a new site and I don't need it burned to the ground in it's first day so I'll picture yesterday's flavor of the week also known as Yung Berg here:



Anyways, the story goes that he apparently dissed some guy... Trick Trick... Out of Detroit.


The story goes that Trick Trick has a concert which featured rapper Fabolous (obviously the bigger name out of the three). However, Fab couldn't make the appearance so out of nowhere... on the day of the concert... in comes Yung Berg!
After just dissing the hell out of the guy, his fans, and apparently really darked skinned women, he just shows up to, I guess, save the day.

Needless to say, from "eye-witness accounts" he proceeded to the VIP section and was immediately destroyed by a mob of, well, goons.

He didn't even get a chance to put a TOE on stage.
Got beat out of his shoes and socks (which to me is the killer part) AND his "legendary", can't leave home without it, Transformers piece was hijacked!




I guess... the iceburg was just a little bit larger than he imagined!

Recently, I saw an episode of TRL which featured T-Pain (dude is growing on me, no homo). He was promoting his video for "Can't Believe It ft. Lil Wayne. Sporting a snazzy purple and black suit with his new top hat gimmick, he proceed to entertain the crowd like the Ringleader he says he is while imparting some very informative words of wisdom.

Not only did he defend his auto-tune singing by saying that Teddy Riley clearly did it before and he was just bringing it back, he even commented on the recent spree of other rappers using the same effect for their songs to, I assume, make a quick hit out of them.

Maybe he wanted see what the fuss was about or something but all I got to say is that this is a man that just... well... shouldn't rock pink clothes if you know what I mean.

To me, it's HORRIBLE! He does have his own kinda twist on it... it's just.... terribly executed!
Two seconds into it... I cringed... threw up... went into a coma... woke up... and when I realized that only six seconds had passed during the day, I decide that it was only right go into a local pawn shop, steal a 9mm, and end my life.

Luckily, I missed and hit Dick Cheney's best friend in the face.
